Today has been a very lazy day. The temperature outside is not unreasonable for this time of year, but the wind chill makes it feel a lot colder. It is a day to stay inside for the most part. I have ventured out a couple times today...the first time to feed my cats and give the cows water. The second time to have a better look at my daughter's 4H calf, who appears to have ringworm. The fun part will be treating him. He is still not 100% comfortable with us, so he may not take too kindly to us applying the medication. Do I see bruises in our near future?
I also received a copy of the latest Keepsake Quilting catalog the other day. I love looking through their fabrics, patterns and new notions. I want to buy so many things...but know I have to finish the projects I have started first. Seeing all of the neat new patterns and fabrics makes me want to pull out my sewing machine and get busy.
It is time to start making new quilts for our household, as the ones we have are starting to get tattered. There are a few that get used on a daily basis, and they are showing the most signs of wear. I have a book on making items from recycled quilts, and may just have to give a couple of mine new life. I could not bear to throw them away!

Trials & Tribulations
We all have them...good days and bad days. As I started my day today, I got to thinking about our last two and a half years. It prompted me to write an article on HubPages, and with that article came the idea of a book. It's amazing how we don't know how much we can deal with until the time comes.
A lot has changed in our lives, and for the most part it has been welcome change. Some of it, not so much...but we have dealt with each and every hurdle. So far, we are still on top. It doesn't keep me from wondering when it will all come crashing down again, but I try to push those thoughts out of my mind when they come.
When a person goes through a major crisis in life, your whole perspective changes. The things that used to be important to me are now trivial. My house is not spotless, but it is filled with love. I have been to places I was scared to sit down, for fear of getting scolded if I wrinkled the sofa cover. When so much time is spent on looks, we miss out on life.
Dealing with the illness of a child changes how we see life, at least it did for me. My son has noticed changes as well...he is now more "live for the moment" than he used to be. I am the same...I treasure every moment we have together, because there was a time I thought it would all be taken away.
Now is a time for healing, and I think writing the book will be a good thing for that. It will be a very emotional book to write, and there will be many tears. I am hoping that by doing so, other parents realize they are not alone. I know I felt very alone sometimes, but managed to get by...one day at a time.

Online Surveys
Good Morning! I forgot to mention yesterday the online surveys I do. The one that has been quite good to me is Opinion Outpost as they have a low payment threshold, and have a couple of options for payment. The surveys occasionally can be a little long, but they do pay okay. I figure it is time spent on the computer anyhow, and I don't make any money by playing games. It is a good way to get your opinions heard at your own pace as well.
Until later, as I have to be out the door soon.........have a good day!

Online Income
As I sat at my computer today, I thought about the amount of time I really spend on it productively. I have to admit, I am a Facebook junkie! I do not play every game or go to every application, but I do check it first thing in the morning and its the last thing I do on my computer at night. I am a sucker for the farming games...have three in different stages as I write this.
I have been searching online for something I can do from home, but have come up with nothing but scams and a few legitimate affiliate programs. The latter usually take forever to make any money on, unless you can find the right customer base. I have spent countless hours searching and am not much further ahead than I was before. I did, however, come across a lot of valuable information.
I have come to the conclusion that no matter what the promises are, a person is better off earning money the old fashioned way...either working for someone else or for yourself in a legitimate business. By this, I mean making crafts, growing bedding plants, growing vegetables, raising animals, providing a service...the list goes on. The bottom line is most of the "get-rich-quick" sites are just selling a webpage...that thousands of other people also have. The only ones to make money on these are the developers, as they sucker unsuspecting people in.
Google Adsense, Amazon, and ClickBank seem to be the best ones that I have found. I also belong to Clixsense and Financial Freedom Ads...these two are PTC (pay to click) and I have made a little money from them. Not enough to get a cheque, but enough to re-invest in advertising.
So, if you're looking to make money online, be very wary of companies wanting your money and promising great riches. As I learn more, I will share it with you.

Resolutions
It is hard to believe it is almost the end of January. Has it really been a month since Christmas?
Each day I tell myself I'm going to do a workout on my Wii Fit
, but yet each day goes by and I always end up doing other things. I am very good at procrastinating when it comes to exercise. I do fully endorse the Wii though, as it gets a person up and moving by playing interactive games. It is a lot of fun...I just don't make the time for it on a regular basis.
I did not make any New Year's Resolutions this year regarding losing weight or eating healthier. I always seem to break those anyhow. I did, however, make a resolution to go visit a friend who lives over two hours away. She is no longer able to drive due to a medical condition, so it is up to me to make the effort. I meant to go for the last year, but something always came up when I planned to go. This visit is long overdue!
I have been busy making a Fabric Rug and am pleased with the way it is turning out. I have made a couple before, and they have been very useful and withstand a lot of traffic. They are both in areas of my home where they are walked on countless times every day. The one I am currently making will either have a home on my floor, or I will sell it...I haven't quite decided yet. There is a little store in town that rents out space to local crafters...which is great for people who don't want to sit at the Farmer's Market every week. The items are in the public eye every day this way, and even generate additional orders.
I am a person of many interests, and feel it is time to pursue them all to a degree. I am a bookkeeper by day, but am not happy with what I do. I like being creative, and bookkeeping allows very little room for creativity. As the days go on, I will be writing about my interests, my plans, and everyday life. Please check back often to see what is new!

Learning Process
I have done a little Blogging before, but this is still a learning process for me. I am very excited to be sharing my trials and tribulations with the world...it is long overdue.
With Spring approaching...eventually...I am starting to plan my yard. Each year I do a little more with hopes of having a lush green lawn surrounding island beds and a seating area with fire pit. Last summer the weather did not co-operate with us, so lush anything was hard to come by. At the rate the snow is falling this winter in our area, we may have another year of the same dry conditions.
I also have plans of a Market Garden this year, but we will see what happens with that. I will be advertising our Saskatoons this summer...they did so well last summer the birds and bears ended up with bellies full as well as us. I picked pails and pails...froze some, made pies and tarts, and gave bucketfuls away.
I am also anxious to have a greenhouse this year. I did try last year, but Mother Nature apparently did not think it should be. I had it built, and she came along one seemingly beautiful day and picked it up and dropped it in a tree. Thus, it is still a work in progress.
It is time for me to call it a night...I will return again this week with more musings on my yard and life in general.

A New Direction
Greetings to all!
I am trying to find a balance between my hobbies, job and making our acreage become a source of income. I believe with the right guidance and support, I can achieve my goals.
I have recently joined HubPages.com and am enjoying writing about my life, my hobbies and my interests. There are so many interesting articles on there as well, covering any subject one can think of. If its not covered, all you have to do is ask about it, and someone will answer your questions.
I have pages on crafts, gardening, animals, books & writing, and hobby farming. Please feel free to follow the link above, or the one on Hobby Farming to read one of my many pages.
Thank you and have a great day!
